Pilots visit Warwick Castle
Falconer with eagle A group of church members went off for the day to see what “Pilots” were up to at Warwick Castle.  The Pilots are the young membership organization of the United Reformed Church. We arrived under blue skies just in time to watch the magnificent birds of prey being put through their paces, while eating a much needed lunch.

Some of the energetic ones went to scale the battlements whilst others explored the various historic scenes depicting, with very life-like figures, preparations for the forth-coming battle between King Edward of the House of York and the House of Lancaster.  There was also a fantastic enactment of a Royal Weekend Party from the early 20th century, where upon entry we were formally announced to the Countess of Warwick by her butler and later had a word with the Prince of Wales and a young Winston Churchill.

The atmosphere at the closing Worship was wonderful, lots of people sitting on the grass or standing, singing and dancing, playing guitars, praising God and thanking Him for His goodness, after which we made our way through the magnificent peacocks back to the minibus.  Paul, our minister, drove us safely home, stopping for the traditional fish and chip supper on the way back!
