The Restoration progresses

 

Phase two restoration nears completion!

RestorationThe second phase which is the restoration of the mausoleum and the Vicorian church windows is now complete. The Sculptures of Sir Titus Salt and the Angel guarding Sir Titus Salt's mausoleum remain to be restored. The total cost is £224,000

A grant for £3000 has been received from The Henry Moore Foundation towards the restoration of the two sculptures. There is a further £10,000 to be raised for the sculpure restoration which is hoped to be commenced during 2012.

The hand of the carpenter:

A Scultpure display "The hand of the carpenter" by Marcus Levine was on show from 3rd April until September 2012 in the church. It created a great deal of interest for visitors to the church. The scupture was of a hand impaled by a large nail suggesting the hand of Christ. At a distance it looked like a goo drawing but close inspection revealed that it was created of thousands of small nails providing depth and texture.

Pilots at Warwick Castle

Simply Saltaire: Art at the URC
Simply SaltaireAn exhibition and sale of Saltaire-themed photographs and artwork will take place at the United Reformed Church, Saltaire from 2nd May to 30th May 2010. The exhibition is to raise funds for the creation of an Education Centre at Saltaire's beautiful United Reformed Church. More >

 

More news of restoration progress
The estimates are in for the first phase of restoration, the work on the canopy around the tower and the steps beneath. The church has raised £40,000 to date and with the grant from English Heritage for this work there is now only £60,000 to raise before work can start. Several grant applications are awaiting a reply. King James’ Bible 400th anniversary celebrations

An exhibition of paintings, Embroideries, Collages,models to depict sections of the Authorised Version of the Bible was held from From Thursday June 23rd to Thursday June 30th 2011.

The art display contained over fifty contributions ranging from beautiful peices of needlework to photograpy,drawings and paintings inspired by the verses in the bible.
