Welcome from the Church Elders

Saltaire United Reformed Church was built by Sir Titus Salt in 1859, as a Congregational Church to cater for the spiritual needs of his workers. It soon became a lively and flourishing congregation.

In 1972, The Congregational Church joined with the Presbyterian Church to form The United Reformed Church, and later we were joined by the Churches of Christ and the Congregational Church in Scotland. Saltaire is now one of some 1800 local United Reformed Churches, in England, Scotland & Wales.

The church is currently without a minister since Paul Breeze moved on in March 2011. So the church is run by the elders until such time as a new minister is appointed.

Whether you have just moved into the area, are looking for a place to worship or you are visiting this World Heritage Site, you can be assured of a warm welcome from the elders and members.

We believe that men and women, young and old are called by God, to live as His people. We believe that God calls us to:

Proclaim the Good News
Serve the community both Spiritually and Culturally
Worship, prayer and study of the Bible
Preserve our rich heritage
Find new ways of service in response to the call of God
To be a place of calm in the turmoil of life

We do not claim to have all the answers, but we believe that in and through Jesus Christ, God has shown and continues to show Himself to us. In the uncertain and imperfect world which we live in, peace with God and through Him, peace with ourselves is very precious. The world can neither give it nor take it away, but you can find it here.

Len Morris on behalf of the elders.
