The Church Building

Saltaire United Reformed Church is truly one of the nation's most precious Victorian architectural gems. The church, built by Sir Titus Salt in 1859 near Bradford, West Yorkshire, is a unique example of Italianate religious architecture. It boasts many architecturally and historically important features and has been described as a classic "Cathedral of Congregationalism". More >

Church Restoration

The building on the whole is in good condition, and is generally structurally sound. A major restoration process is now underway however. The project has several phases. The first phase that is nearing completion is to restore the canopy around the tower and the steps beneath. The second phase will restore the Mausoleum holding Sir Titus Salt and his family, the Victorian glass windows in the church and the statues within the Church. The next phase will be to incorporate disabled access to both levels of the church and to develop the lower rooms to provide greatly improved facilities, including an education facility for visiting school children. Weddings at the Church

There are about 25 weddings each year at the church. Wedding couples who have links with the area or the church and who wish to have a Christian wedding are welcomed.
